Privacy policy
Direct Stay Search is a public directory of independent vacation-rental websites. It does not process reservations, payments, or guest accounts.
Information we handle
Search requests can include a destination, property type, and guest count. If a traveler explicitly asks agents to cover a destination, Direct Stay Search stores that destination and an aggregate request count. Website submissions include only the public URL supplied by the submitter; Direct Stay Search derives rental details from public website content. Feedback includes a title, details, and an optional email address for follow-up.
We do not ask for payment-card data, government identifiers, passwords, API keys, health information, or precise live location.
Why we use it
Search inputs are used to return relevant public listings. An explicit coverage request tells discovery agents where the public catalog needs more verified sites. Submission data is used to verify, publish, deduplicate, and maintain direct-booking websites. Feedback is used to diagnose bugs, prioritize improvements, and follow up when an email address is voluntarily supplied.
Storage and retention
Search inputs are not intentionally stored in the Direct Stay Search database. The service stores coarse, aggregate product events for no more than 90 days, but removes the destination from ordinary search and zero-result events before storage. To prevent automated abuse, public write forms use a one-way, short-lived request fingerprint that expires within 24 hours; the underlying network address is not stored in the application database. Vercel may process basic request metadata in its infrastructure logs under its service settings and published terms; those logs are not copied into the Direct Stay Search catalog or feedback database. Explicit destination coverage requests contain no account or contact identifier and have a 12-month retention target after the last request. Published site records and verification evidence are kept while a listing is active, with a 12-month retention target after it becomes unavailable. Feedback and its optional contact email have a 24-month retention target. Meeting these targets requires a controlled database-maintenance run; until that process runs, records may remain longer.
Who receives information
The service uses Vercel to host the website and Neon to store catalog, verification, and feedback records. When used through ChatGPT, OpenAI transmits the tool inputs you approve to Direct Stay Search. We do not sell personal information, serve ads, or share feedback with rental operators.
When you choose “Visit direct site,” you leave Direct Stay Search. The independent website then handles your visit under its own privacy practices.
Your choices
Email is optional. You can ask us to delete or correct feedback, contact information, or a website submission by using the support form and including the relevant reference number or domain.
Changes
If this policy materially changes, the updated date and revised terms will be published on this page before the new practices take effect.
